Insurance Industry News from ProgramBusiness.comIn Memoriam
(This originally appeared in our May 9, 2008 edition of the Daily Newsflash.)
It is with tremendous sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Chairman, Founder and Friend – Eileen Lesberg of World Wide Specialty Programs. Eileen died May 3, 2008 peacefully and with grace at the age of 79.
Eileen’s unique and uncanny ability to perform seemingly impossible or insurmountable tasks was magical, as was the person. In a time when women were not always taken seriously in the business world, Eileen set about convincing the insurance industry of the uniqueness of staffing. Pounding on doors to sell the idea of insurance products for the staffing industry she originated the first-ever policy designed specifically for the staffing industry. Eileen never looked back, founding World Wide Facilities, Inc. in 1972.
“World Wide was born out of a need for the staffing industry to protect what it had accomplished and what it would achieve in the future”, she explained.
And with her persevering determination she added eleven other policies to her program and growing still today. Insurance was her life but staffing had her heart. In fact, Eileen was recognized by the staffing industry's national association in 2004 with the Leadership Hall of Fame Award, the first industry supplier to be so recognized.
"She will be missed by those who knew her, knew of her, but mostly by those who loved her," says President and CEO Dorothy Taylor.
Thanks to Eileen's vision, World Wide will continue its commitment to the industry's interests of safety, protection and partnership.
