NAIFA Elects New Officers & TrusteesThe National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors' (NAIFA) representative governing body, the National Council, elected new officers and seven trustees during NAIFA's 113th Annual Convention and Career Conference. Rounding out the 2002-03 board, NAIFA announced the seven leaders from the financial services indsutry who will serve as appointed trustees for the next year.
Richard A. Koob, CLU, ChFC, AEP was elected president and will lead NAIFA as it begins the process of restructuring at all levels of its federation. The process will focus on NAIFA's core benefits of advocacy and best practices to best serve NAIFA members and the American public.
Joining Koob as NAIFA officers are Randy Kilgore, CLU, LUTCF, RHU, president-elect; C. Robert Brown, CLU, LUTCF, secretary; and Paul M. Smith Sr., CLU, treasurer. After serving his one-year term as president, Bob Nelson, CLU, LUTCF becomes immediate past president.
Re-elected as trustees to two-year terms were Elaine J. Fremling, CLU; Marvin R. Keys, LUTCF; David E. Smithkey, CLU, RFC; Cliff F. Wilson, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF; and Ernest B. Whichard, Jr., CLU, ChFC, LUTCF.
Elected to the board for the first time were trustees Edward A. Zabielski, Jr., LUTCF, RFC of Wilmington, Del., and M. Jay Einstein, CLU of Pittsgrove, N.J. Einstein was elected to a one-year term to complete the term begun last year by Tony M. Cammack, CLU, ChFC, who recently retired from the board.
The board also approved the appointment of seven trustees - three representing each of NAIFA's existing conferences, the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), the Association of Health Insurance Advisors (AHIA) and GAMA International, and four at-large selections representing various demographic groups and professional disciplines. Last year, NAIFA expanded its board to include these seven appointed trustee positions so the governing body would have a wider range of perspectives and expertise.
Serving as at-large trustees are Booker Joseph, CLU, ChFC, FLMI, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Booker T. Washington Insurance in Birmingham, Ala.; Juli Y. McNeely, vice president of McNeely Financial Services in Spencer, Wis.; Greg Vacca, national sales director of Calfed Investments in Newport Beach, Calif.; and Richard A. Wecker, CLU, CLF, LLIF, president and chief executive officer of LIMRA International in Hartford, Conn. Representing the conferences are Roger B. Sutton, CPA (AALU), Frederick W. Joyner (AHIA) and Robert H. Baccigalupi, CLU, ChFC, CLTC.
