NAPSLO: Blogging to Publicize Support of Proposed LegislationNAPSLO, the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices, Ltd., a national trade association representing the surplus lines industry and the wholesale insurance marketing system, released a press release on June 25 supporting the Nonadmitted and Reinsurance Reform Act of 2009 bill introduced by Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN), Mel Martinez (R-FL) and co-sponsored by and Senators Bill Nelson (D-FL) and Mike Crapo (R-ID). The bill’s goal is to streamline and reduce barriers in state regulation of surplus lines insurance and reinsurance. It would create a uniform regulatory system, while preserving the role of the state regulator.
NAPLSO’s support of the bill was also available on its blog (http://napslo.blogspot.com/) as shown above. The blog was also referenced with a link on NAPSLO’s Facebook page, illustrating a perfect example of how to use social media to communicate with your members and/or customers about topics that are relevant, and to engage them. With the blog, commentary is available and an opportunity for dialogue is presented. Furthermore, the platform provides NAPSLO with another avenue to promote support for legislation it deems critical.
If you take a look at the NAPSLO blog archive, you will also see that the association has published 45 articles for 2009 so far.
